Wawa Credit Card Approval Odds

When you apply for the Wawa Credit Card, you do not need an excellent credit score like you would for other high-end retail store cards.

A fair credit score is typically good enough to be approved. However, the approval odds are better if your credit score is 670 or greater.

So, if you are planning on applying for the Wawa Credit Card, it is a good idea to check your credit score and make sure it is in good shape.

The approval odds are also better if you have a stable income and a low debt-to-income ratio.

Your credit history is also taken into account when you apply for the Wawa Credit Card.

If you have a history of missed payments, defaults, or high levels of debt, your application is likely to be denied.

Required Credit Score

To get approved for a Wawa credit card, you should have a minimum score of 670.

However, people with a consistent income stream, good previous payment history, no debts, good credit history, and a credit score of 630+ can also get the card.

If you have a 670+ score, it’s highly likely that you’ll be approved whereas someone with a score of 500 or 550 or just above 600 will be rejected right away!

Besides credit score, Wawa also considers some other important factors like your debt-to-income ratio while reviewing the application.

Wawa Credit Card Pros And Cons

The benefits and drawbacks of a Wawa credit card include –

ProsCons
Welcome Discount of $0.50 Per GallonEarns Cashback Only On Gas
5 Cents Off Per Gallon every timeNo cash back on in-store purchases
No Annual Fee26.49% variable APR
Additional cards at no costLow Credit Limit (Starts At $200)
Advantages and Disadvantages

So, one of the biggest benefits of getting a Wawa credit card is its ZERO Annual Fee and 2% cash back on every gas payment.

On the downside, you will earn no reward points on all your purchases at Wawa convenience stores.

So, when you pay using your Wawa card for your favorite items such as Hoagies & sandwiches, soups & sides, salads & bowls, dinner, meals, snacks, and Wawa ice cream, you won’t earn cash back. This is one of the biggest disadvantages of the Wawa credit card.

Another downside of the Wawa credit card is that it provides you with a low credit limit.

The lowest one can get is $200 whereas the maximum limit is determined based on several factors like your credit score and creditworthiness.

Interest Free Period

The interest-free period is the time during which a borrower does not have to pay any interest on a loan.

This period usually starts on the day that the loan is disbursed and ends on the last day of the month before the next payment is due.

In the case of the Wawa credit card, this period is up to 25 days for purchases.

So, as a Wawa credit cardholder, you would not have to pay any interest on purchases made within the first 25 days of the billing cycle.

After the interest-free period expires, the cardholder starts accruing interest on the remaining balance at the regular APR.

The purchase APR of a Wawa credit card is 27.24% Variable which means you will be charged this rate on any balance that you carry from month to month.

In order to avoid accruing interest charges, it is important to pay off your entire balance by the due date.

This will ensure that you do not have to pay any interest on your purchases.

Balance Transfer APR

The balance transfer APR is the annual percentage rate that a credit card company charges its customers for transferring balances from one credit card to another.

This rate is usually quite high, as the credit card company is essentially lending money to the customer at a high-interest rate.

In the case of the Wawa Credit Card, this is not applicable or it’s 0% as Wawa doesn’t offer a balance transfer option on this card.

So, cardholders cannot transfer a balance from one Wawa credit card to another Wawa Credit Card.

Wawa Credit Card Fee Schedule

Wawa offers a 25-day interest-free period on all purchases, with a minimum interest charge of $2. Late payment fees range up to $40, and there is no security deposit required.

So, basically, Wawa cardholders can enjoy up to 25 days of interest-free purchases and they are subject to a late payment fee of $40 if they don’t pay off their balance in full by the due date.

Additionally, there is no security deposit required to open a Wawa credit card account.

The minimum interest that is charged is $2, so cardholders will always have to pay at least this amount if they fail to pay off their balance in full.

What Can You Buy

With a Wawa Credit Card, you can purchase –

  • Wawa Gas
  • Wawa Ice Cream
  • Wawa Hoagies
  • Wawa Sandwiches
  • Wawa Kids Meals
  • Wawa Dinner

  • Wawa Dinner
  • Wawa Salads & Bowls
  • Wawa Express Case

So, almost anything sold at Wawa convenience stores and gas stations can be bought using your Wawa credit card.

What You Cannot Buy

Unfortunately, Wawa credit card cannot be used for making purchases at third-party stores.

So, you will not be able to swipe it at other retailers like Walmart, Walgreens, Meijer, Publix, and gas stations like Sunoco, Shell, Phillips 66, Conoco, Sinclair, Pete’s 36, etc.

In short, the Wawa credit card can be used only at Wawa!

Only For Gas?

No, the Wawa credit card is not only for gas but it can also be used to pay for everything available at Wawa convenience stores.

Review

My review of the Wawa Credit Card is that it’s not particularly useful. The card offers a very low rewards rate on gas purchases and doesn’t offer any rewards for in-store Wawa purchases. Additionally, the card is not usable at other gas stations, so it’s not as versatile as other gas rewards cards. However, the card does have a $0 annual fee and lets you save 50 cents per gallon on gas for the first month. And then, cash back rewards are earned at a rate of 5 cents per gallon. If you’re a regular Wawa customer, this card could be worth considering, but there are likely better options available. If you’d like to apply, be sure that your credit score is around 670 so that your approval odds are good enough.
